Job Summary

Join the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt, a leading particle accelerator facility, as a Mechatronics Engineer in the Biophysics Department. This role involves the planning and implementation of mechatronic setups for physical and biological radiation experiments, specifically focusing on high-dose-rate FLASH irradiations. You will be responsible for developing novel multi-leaf collimators for precise field shaping, designing high-dynamic micro-actuators with real-time control, and integrating mechanical and mechatronic components. Additionally, you will develop and construct fast readout units for multi-wire chambers, including FPGA-based readout and real-time programming. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to world-class science within an international team, working on cutting-edge research projects like FAIR, one of the largest research initiatives globally.
