Job Summary

The City of Regensburg is seeking a Geoinformatics Specialist or IT Specialist with a focus on Geoinformatics or Visualization to join their Urban Development Office, specifically the Surveying and Geoinformation Department. This role is crucial as 70-80% of municipal decisions are spatial-related. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding and maintaining the city's Geodata Infrastructure (GDI), selecting appropriate technologies aligned with Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards, and developing the Geoportal. Key responsibilities include configuring software components like web and database servers, creating user interfaces, and implementing new technologies for presenting geodata, such as 3D portals. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the sustainable development of Regensburg by providing essential geodata for planning decisions, working in a diverse and impactful field from data acquisition to cartography and GDI development. The role is part-time (14 hours/week) and initially limited until July 31, 2030.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Geoinformatics or Computer Science, preferably with a focus on Geoinformatics or Visualization (Dipl. (FH) / Bachelor) or comparable degree

Experience

  • Professional experience with Geoinformation Systems and Geodatabases
  • Programming experience in Python, PyQGIS, and JSON
  • Practical experience with Geodata Infrastructure components (e.g., map servers, database servers, web servers, Masterportal)
  • Practical experience with Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) technologies and standards
