Job Summary

This role involves contributing to a crucial national moorland soil monitoring project focused on vegetation, aiming to refine greenhouse gas emission reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for the regular recording of plant species and biotope types on existing and new monitoring sites, ensuring data documentation and quality. A significant part of the work includes the scientific analysis of collected vegetation data, integrating it with other site properties like soil characteristics and water levels. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to project reports, scientific publications, and participate in national and international conferences, fostering scientific curiosity and potentially supporting a doctoral degree. This is a part-time, fixed-term position within a dynamic research institute, offering a chance to engage with climate protection and agricultural topics.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Biology, Vegetation Ecology, Landscape Ecology, Landscape Planning, or comparable fields.

Experience

  • Practical experience in mapping plant species and biotope types (TurboVeg desirable)
  • Experience in using Python, R, or other programming languages for data preparation and statistical data analysis
  • Experience in using TurboVeg and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) desirable
