Job Summary

This PhD position at Ruhr-Universität Bochum offers a unique opportunity for a research associate to delve into the fascinating world of nearby galaxies, focusing on star formation, cosmic rays, and magnetic fields. The role involves in-depth analysis of broad-band radio continuum and polarisation observations from large-area surveys like EMU and LoTSS, integrating these with multi-wavelength data from optical and near-infrared observations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new scientific proposals, publishing research findings in journals, and presenting results at various levels, including international conferences. While a Bachelor's degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics is required, a Master's degree and prior experience in radio astronomy, coding (preferably Python), and securing scientific resources are highly desirable. This role provides an international and stimulating environment, with an optional component for science outreach.
