Job Summary

This role involves supporting a national project focused on investigating the relationship between leaf hairiness in grapevines and their infection by downy mildew. The Technical Assistant will be responsible for setting up, conducting, and evaluating experiments with grapevines in laboratory, greenhouse, and field settings. Key tasks include cultivating and maintaining experimental plants, collecting phenotypic data, and performing molecular biological lab work such as nucleic acid isolation, PCR analysis, cloning, and DNA sequencing. The position also requires expertise in in vitro cultivation, propagation, and transformation of grapevines, along with micrografting. The ideal candidate will have a background as a technical assistant or biological laboratory technician, practical experience in plant experiments, molecular biology, and sterile in vitro plant culture. Strong organizational skills, proficiency in MS Office, and a commitment to precise, independent work are essential for success in documenting and analyzing experimental data.

Education

Completed training as a Technical Assistant or Biological Laboratory Technician, or equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience as a technical assistant or biological laboratory technician, preferably with relevant professional experience or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in conducting plant experiments and data collection on experimental plants in the lab, field, and greenhouse (preferably with grapevines)
  • Practical experience with molecular biological methods (PCR analysis, DNA extraction, cloning, etc.)
  • Manual dexterity and preferably experience in in vitro plant culture (sterile work)
  • Preferably knowledge of conducting and evaluating molecular marker analyses and infection experiments with plant pathogens
