Job Summary

The University of Rostock is seeking a Research Associate in Physics for a temporary, part-time position (26.8 hours/week) as a parental leave replacement. This role, situated within the Institute of Physics' Surface and Interface Physics group, focuses on advanced microscopy techniques. The successful candidate will conduct research using scanning probe microscopy in physiological cell culture media, specifically focusing on functional imaging for atomic force microscopy and active stabilization. Key responsibilities include data analysis, performing final experiments, creating graphical representations, and deriving and discussing research results. This is an excellent opportunity for a physicist or nanoscientist with a strong foundation in experimental physics or chemistry, particularly in interface phenomena and scanning probe microscopy methods, to contribute to interdisciplinary research on cell-surface interactions within a supportive academic environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (State Examination, Diploma, Master, or comparable degree) in Physics or Nanosciences, preferably with good results

Experience

  • Professional experience in experimental physics or chemistry, especially with interfaces and scanning probe microscopy methods
  • Interest in interdisciplinary topics, such as the interaction of living cells with surface structures
