Job Summary

This role seeks an IT Administrator and Application Support Specialist to manage the full operational lifecycle of IT solutions for the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Rostock. Day-to-day responsibilities involve ensuring the continuous, smooth operation of the entire IT infrastructure, administering server environments (MS Windows and Linux), managing network and firewall systems, and supporting PC labs. A critical component of the job is developing, implementing, and evolving the IT security concept for the faculty. Furthermore, the specialist will provide comprehensive user support, conduct training sessions, and manage IT-supported teaching and examination systems (E-exams). The ideal candidate holds a university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field, or possesses equivalent relevant IT expertise and professional experience. Extensive experience in system administration across various operating systems is required, alongside very good written and spoken German skills. This permanent, part-time (30 hours) position offers a challenging and varied environment within a modern, family-friendly university setting.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or FH Diploma) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Computer Science Education, or a comparable field. Alternatively, comprehensive, relevant IT expertise and corresponding professional experience.

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in administering MS Windows and Linux systems (Server and Client side)
  • Experience in Application Support and Technical Operations
  • Professional experience in relevant IT fields (if university degree is absent)
  • Experience in creating and implementing training programs (desirable)
