Job Summary
The University of Rostock is seeking a Specialist Engineer in Electrical Engineering and Building Management Systems (BMS) to join their central administration, focusing on technical operations, construction, and property management. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of technically complex laboratories and university buildings. Day-to-day tasks include developing quality requirements for construction projects, independently determining maintenance needs, and providing technical support for construction and maintenance measures as the university's representative. The engineer will also be responsible for planning and executing regular inspections of technical systems, managing contract frameworks, and supporting energy management initiatives. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, possesses multi-year professional experience in the field, and has strong knowledge of building automation protocols (BACnet, KNX, etc.). This is a demanding, varied, and permanent full-time position offering a modern, family-friendly work environment in a vibrant coastal city.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (FH Diploma, Bachelor, or comparable) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, and/or Information Technology; or equivalent knowledge and skills. Willingness to become a Responsible Electrical Specialist (Verantwortliche Elektrofachkraft) through further training.
Experience
- Multi-year relevant professional experience in the described tasks (desirable)
- Professional experience ensuring proper operation of electrical systems, elevators, MCR, EMA, and GMA systems
- Experience in planning and conducting regular and extraordinary technical system inspections
- Knowledge of public procurement law for services (VgEM-V, Vergabegesetz M-V, UVgO) (advantageous)
- Experience with relevant administrative regulations (LHO M-V, RLBau) (advantageous)

Additional
- Minimum level of physical fitness required for inspecting construction sites, including scaffolding, closed technical operating rooms, and working on ladders. Willingness to take on the role of Responsible Electrical Specialist (Verantwortliche Elektrofachkraft) after appropriate training. Must have secure knowledge of relevant technical regulations.
