Job Summary

The University of Rostock is seeking five PhD Candidates/Research Associates to join the DFG-funded International Research Training Group (IRTG) GRK 2676, "Imaging quantum systems (IQS): photons, molecules, materials." This role, starting April 1, 2026, involves conducting focused research within the IRTG framework with the primary goal of achieving a PhD (scientific qualification). Day-to-day responsibilities include working on a specific scientific project, publishing research findings, and collaborating within interdisciplinary teams. A key opportunity is the potential for a research stay of several months at one of the Canadian partner universities (Ottawa or Calgary). Ideal candidates possess a strong academic background (Master's or equivalent) in Quantum Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering, coupled with solid experimental or theoretical knowledge in the field. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, along with fluency in written and spoken English, are essential for success in this challenging and rewarding academic position.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (State Examination, Diploma, Master's, or comparable degree) in Quantum Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, preferably with a very good result.
