Job Summary

This role involves the planning, tendering, and project management for new and upgraded traffic signal systems. You will develop sustainable traffic control strategies aligned with the city's goals, oversee the operation of Kiel's traffic management system, and coordinate maintenance. Responsibilities include developing and implementing maintenance strategies, defining standards for new traffic control strategies, securing and managing funding for traffic projects, and preparing technical contributions for ongoing or completed projects. You will also handle public relations and serve as a point of contact for citizen inquiries. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant university degree, at least 3 years of professional experience, and knowledge of control techniques and EDV-based control systems for technical installations. A driver's license class B is also required.

Completed university degree with a minimum standard period of study of 6 semesters (Bachelor or FH-Diplom) in one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technical Computer Science, Automation Technology, Vehicle Informatics, Vehicle Electronics, Engineering Informatics, Mechatronics, Sensor Technology, Software Engineering.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience based on the required education and training.
  • Alternatively, minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience based on the required education and training, with reclassification to a lower pay grade until 3 years of experience is met.
  • Experience in planning and constructing (traffic) technical systems.
  • Experience with traffic control logics.
