Join the University of Saarland's Institute of Forensic Medicine as a Forensic Medicine Laboratory Technician. This full-time, fixed-term position involves hands-on work in forensic toxicology and molecular biology, encompassing sample preparation, analysis using advanced techniques like GC-MS and LC-MS/MS, data evaluation, and method development. You will also manage sample intake, track cases, and support quality management and abstinence programs. The role requires a completed vocational training as a chemical laboratory assistant or equivalent, practical lab experience, and proficiency with analytical instruments and PC software. Strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, and emotional resilience are essential. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical Laboratory Assistant (Chemielaborant/Chemielaborantin) or equivalent (e.g., CTA, Biological Laboratory Assistant, MTA)

Experience

  • Professional experience in common laboratory tasks (e.g., pipetting, homogenizing, diluting)
  • Experience in the extraction, measurement, evaluation, and quantification of foreign substances
  • Experience with complex analytical devices
  • Experience with PC and software, such as MS Office
  • Experience with quality standards (NORM EN ISO 17025)

Additional

  • Must not have been previously employed by the University of Saarland. If foreign degree, proof of equivalence from ZAB required. Willingness to work full-time (100% of tariff hours). Fixed-term contract for 2 years with prospect of permanent employment.
