Job Summary

Join a leading research institution as a Doctoral Researcher in Quantum Technologies, focusing on the application of optical atomic clocks in geodesy. You will conduct high-precision clock comparisons, develop innovative solutions for optical frequency transfer over fiber optics, and operate national/international fiber optic links. This role involves presenting research at international conferences and publishing in scientific journals. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Optical Engineering, with advantageous knowledge in experimental optics, laser/fiber optics, control systems, electronics, and programming for measurement analysis and automation. Strong engagement, independent work, curiosity, and teamwork are essential. Fluency in English (C1 level) is required, with German knowledge being beneficial. This fixed-term, part-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge quantum-based height measurement.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diplom/Master) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in experimental optics, laser and fiber optics, control technology, electronics, or programming is advantageous.
  • Experience in time or frequency metrology is ideal.
  • Experience in preparing, conducting, and evaluating high-precision clock comparisons.
  • Experience in developing and advancing solutions for optical frequency transfer.
  • Experience in operating and developing fiber optic links for high-precision optical frequency transfer.
  • Experience in presenting research findings at international conferences and publishing in scientific journals.
