Job Summary

Join the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) as an IT Server Expert in Berlin, contributing to cutting-edge metrology and research. You will be responsible for the administration of Linux, OSS, and Windows servers, including user management and access control, and assist in managing the High Performance Compute (HPC) cluster. This role involves supporting scientific users, deploying specialized physics applications, and contributing to the strategic development of server infrastructure with a focus on container technology and AI applications. The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, along with solid Linux system administration experience and knowledge of Windows servers. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree (Bachelor / FH-Diplom) in Informatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computational Engineering, Scientific Computing, Simulation Science, or comparable proven qualification.

Experience

Experience in Linux system administration
Profound knowledge in Linux automation (Shell Scripting, Python, Ansible, etc.)
Practical knowledge in managing servers, services, and user accounts under Windows
Experience in deploying scientific software for users in numerical methods and Computational Physics
Ideally, experience in server virtualization (e.g., Proxmox)
Advanced knowledge of BSI requirements
Strong service orientation and enjoyment of IT support for researchers
Independent and structured way of working
Strong team and communication skills
