Job Summary

As a Research Scientist at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), you will work within the 'Airborne Nanoparticles' group to advance measurement standards for Black Carbon. Your daily responsibilities include developing and harmonizing measurement guidelines, managing international stakeholder relationships (CEN, EURAMET), and refining stationary measurement setups for optical aerosol properties like scattering and absorption. You will also oversee the development of soot generation methods, perform field measurement proof-of-concepts, and manage the laboratory infrastructure. The role requires proactive acquisition of third-party research funding and the supervision of student research. This position is unique as it places you at the intersection of environmental metrology and aerosol research, offering the opportunity to shape international standards while working in a high-level scientific environment. Successful candidates will possess a doctorate in Physics or Chemistry and demonstrate strong expertise in aerosol measurement and data management.
