Job Summary

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon is seeking a Biotechnology Engineer for its Institute of Active Polymers in Berlin, focusing on stem cell modification and biomaterials. This role involves performing genetic engineering tasks at safety levels 1 and 2, including the construction and in-vitro application of transposons, synthetic mRNA, lentiviruses, and CRISPR/Cas systems. You will develop and apply a range of biochemical, molecular biology, and cell biology methods, including immune cell profiling, and train colleagues. Key responsibilities include creating production and reporter cell lines, gene-specific cloning, cell culturing, various gene transfer experiments with human primary and stem cells, in-vitro mRNA transcription, and investigating surface-specific immune responses. The position also requires creating SOPs, documenting work with electronic lab notebooks, and managing lab operations, including instrument maintenance and hazardous material documentation. The ideal candidate will have a university degree, experience with human cell cultures, strong molecular biology skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Experience

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, PCR, ELISA, blotting, FACS, and MACS
  • Experience working responsibly under legal frameworks (genetic engineering, biohazards, hazardous materials)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
