Job Summary

This postdoctoral position focuses on advancing high-speed, high-resolution in situ micro-tomography (µCT) for mechanical load experiments, particularly for biodegradable magnesium-based alloys used in medical implants. You will enhance existing tensile testing setups, integrate high-speed imaging systems, and ensure synchronization with mechanical loading apparatus. Key responsibilities include improving tomographic reconstruction methods for efficient, time-resolved imaging and implementing multimodal measurement workflows, such as acoustic emission monitoring, to track degradation and crack propagation. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with world-leading synchrotron X-ray imaging at PETRA III, contributing to critical insights into materials fatigue and degradation mechanisms. The position is ideal for a researcher with a PhD in Physics or Computer Science, strong programming skills, and hands-on experimental experience.
