Job Summary
Join the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA) as a Senior Frontend Engineer in Heidelberg, contributing to groundbreaking biomedical research by developing user-facing platforms for genomic data exchange. You will architect, test, and maintain high-performance web applications using Angular, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, ensuring a world-class user experience. This role involves close collaboration with an international, interdisciplinary team, including backend engineers and data stewards, and participation in global initiatives like the European Genomics Data Infrastructure. The position is ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong portfolio, excellent English communication skills, and a passion for building next-generation research tools in a meaningful scientific environment.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, web design, human-computer interaction, or a related field; alternatively, an equivalent qualification with extensive, relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Significant professional experience as a frontend engineer in a senior role
- Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership on complex projects
- Extensive experience with the Angular framework
- Demonstrated experience using Tailwind CSS
- Strong experience with frontend testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Playwright, Cypress)
- Proficiency with the Git version control system
- Experience in working independently and creatively on large-scale frontend challenges
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting
