Job Summary

Join the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) as a Technical Assistant within the Faculty of Physics, specifically supporting the 'Molecular Origins' project in the 'Origins of Life' cluster. This part-time role (50%) involves the technical management of the Integrated Dual-Use Science Laboratory (IDSL), conducting complex experiments such as DNA/RNA sequencing preparation and oligonucleotide synthesis, and maintaining advanced analytical equipment including mass spectrometers and HPLC systems. You will also manage the IT infrastructure for data storage and analysis using LabVIEW programs, document laboratory procedures, and guide doctoral candidates. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on the origins of life in a well-equipped, internationally recognized research center.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), or in a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory work or internships
  • Experience with HPLC, Oligonucleotide Synthesizers, and Mass Spectrometers is desirable
  • Experience in independent operation and maintenance of research laboratory infrastructure
  • Experience in optimizing laboratory protocols
