Job Summary

This role is based at the Chair of Neuroanatomy at LMU Munich, where the research team investigates protein homeostasis in relation to neurodegeneration and aging. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing molecular biological analyses such as PCR and RT-qPCR, protein biochemistry including Western Blotting, and microscopy. You will also manage cell line cultivation and work with the model organism C. elegans. Beyond experimental work, you will play a vital role in organizing and supporting general laboratory operations. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a scientific research environment. The role offers a permanent contract under the TV-L E8 pay scale, flexible working hours, and the opportunity to work in a modern, interdisciplinary environment in the heart of Munich with comprehensive training provided for new techniques.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Veterinary Medical Technical Assistant (VMTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), Biology Laboratory Technician, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry
  • Experience in the cultivation and experimental work with cell lines
  • Experience in laboratory organization and research project support
  • Previous experience with RNA-Seq sample preparation or C. elegans is preferred but not required
