Job Summary

The Ernst Ruska-Centre (ER-C) is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join their team in Jülich. In this role, you will dedicate two-thirds of your time to supporting the RIANA project, acting as a scientific and technical expert. Your daily responsibilities include performing feasibility assessments, designing TEM-APT experiments, preparing samples using FIB, and conducting data analysis to support internal and external users. The remaining one-third of your time is protected for your own independent research, specifically focusing on correlative microscopy and the TOMO project. Ideal candidates hold a PhD in physics or materials science and possess hands-on experience with dual-beam FIB and Atom Probe Tomography. This position is unique because it offers a balance between user-facility support and personal scientific freedom within a world-class electron microscopy environment, providing excellent opportunities for professional growth and international networking.

Required Skills

Education

Masters degree and PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experimental expertise in dual-beam FIB and atom probe tomography techniques
  • Professional experience in transmission electron microscopy is considered a benefit
  • Experience in collaborating within multidisciplinary research environments
  • Proven track record in scientific communication and results dissemination
