Job Summary

As a Data Scientist at the Statistical Office of the City of Stuttgart, you will act as a central consultant for data projects across the municipal administration. Your daily responsibilities include conceptualizing and modeling data analyses using statistical and machine learning methods, developing business intelligence solutions, and creating interactive dashboards and automated reports. You will also advise departments on data engineering, identify data sources, and contribute to building data literacy within the administration through training sessions. A key focus is managing mobility-related data and publishing scientific contributions. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about numbers who enjoys working on diverse municipal topics. This is a fixed-term, part-time position (75%) serving as parental leave coverage from June 2026 to November 2026, offering a collaborative environment focused on data-driven decision-making.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master's or Diploma) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in data preparation, modeling, and visualization
  • Experience applying inductive statistics, machine learning, and econometrics
  • Experience working within a municipal or public sector context
  • Professional experience in conducting data analysis projects
