Job Summary
As a PhD Candidate for the SynDiPET project at Forschungszentrum Jülich, you will conduct cutting-edge research on proton-conducting ceramics for energy technology. Your daily responsibilities involve the synthesis and doping of BZY and BZCY powders, utilizing advanced sintering methods like ultra-fast high-temperature sintering (UHS) and field-assisted sintering (FAST/SPS). You will characterize material microstructures and electrochemical properties, while managing data collection for a collaborative database. This role is part of a prestigious DFG-funded research group, offering the opportunity to work with leading universities and research institutes across Germany. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience in the synthesis and shaping of ceramic materials via powder routes
- Practical experience in material densification using field-assisted sintering methods (FAST/SPS)
- Experience in microstructural characterization and phase analysis
- Academic experience in proton-conducting materials and their properties

- The position is a 3-year fixed-term contract. Work is performed on-site in Jülich, Germany, with potential for occasional flexible working arrangements. Candidates must be prepared for interdisciplinary collaboration within a national research network.
