Job Summary

This role involves joining the ALONGate project to conduct marine biodiversity research, focusing on the North Atlantic gateway to the Arctic. The successful candidate will perform image analysis of marine data, including footage from Benthic Lander Observatory Systems and ROV dives targeting seamounts and hydrothermal vents. Key responsibilities include participating in research expeditions, managing the 'Ocean Floor Observation and Bathymetry System' on board, and processing acoustic and visual data. Requirements include a PhD in Biology, proven experience with research expeditions in the Arctic, and technical proficiency in marine data software and statistical analysis. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a world-renowned Leibniz institution, collaborate with the Alfred Wegener Institute, and contribute to high-level research while engaging in international scientific networks.

  • Experience in presenting research findings at international conferences
  • Experience in publishing data according to FAIR principles and working with research databases
