Job Summary

The Red List Assessor will play a vital role in the Senckenberg Ocean Species Alliance (SOSA) project, contributing to global marine conservation efforts. Based in Frankfurt, this role involves conducting Red List assessments for marine invertebrate species by gathering, interpreting, and compiling scientific data. You will be responsible for maintaining accuracy within the IUCN Species Information Service (SIS) database, ensuring all species records are comprehensive and up-to-date. Beyond data management, you will collaborate with an international network of researchers and support the training and coordination of volunteers and students. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in marine or conservation biology who is passionate about biodiversity and scientific documentation. Required Skills

Education

Degree in Marine Biology, Conservation Biology, or a related field

Experience

  • Experience with Red List assessment processes or IUCN Categories and Criteria
  • Experience in editorial work ensuring consistency in formatting and data accuracy
