Job Summary

The Waterways New Construction Office in Datteln is seeking an OT Security Engineer to join their team in ensuring the safety and reliability of critical infrastructure, such as locks and pumping stations. In this role, you will bridge the gap between operational technology and cybersecurity, translating complex security guidelines into concrete technical and organizational measures. Your day-to-day will involve analyzing vulnerabilities, developing security concepts for network infrastructure (LAN, WLAN, VPN), and coordinating hardware and software investments. You will act as a key advisor on information and plant security, while also managing public procurement processes and overseeing IT service providers. This position is unique as it offers the opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects within a stable, public-sector environment, supported by a professional team of engineers and technicians. You will play a vital role in protecting Germany's vital waterways while utilizing modern, flexible working models, including options for mobile work.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a University of Applied Sciences in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science.

Experience

  • Professional experience in plant safety, cybersecurity, or IT infrastructure.
  • Experience in risk and vulnerability assessment for technical systems.
  • Experience in public procurement procedures is considered an asset.
