Job Summary

The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research is seeking an AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) Technician to join the team developing the Photospheric Magnetic field Imager (PMI) for the ESA Vigil mission. In this role, you will play a critical part in the lifecycle of scientific space instrumentation. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing test setups, executing integration and testing campaigns at both the subsystem and instrument levels, and maintaining rigorous technical documentation. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary project team and external partners. The ideal candidate is a state-certified technician with a background in mechanical or electronic development. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a state-certified technician (Staatlich geprüfter Techniker) or equivalent.

Experience

  • Professional experience in mechanical or electronic development
  • Experience in the mechanical manufacturing of components
  • Practical experience working in cleanroom environments
  • Experience working with thermal vacuum (TV) chambers
  • Experience with CAD software, preferably Creo

Additional

  • The position is initially limited to a 2-year contract with the intention of extension. Applicants must be able to work in an international team environment. The role is evaluated according to TVöD-Bund EG 9a.
