Job Summary
This PhD position at the Institute for a Sustainable Hydrogen Economy (IHE) offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in hydrogen storage technologies. As a researcher, you will focus on developing epitaxial oxide thin films using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and investigating their catalytic performance under operando conditions. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing model catalysts, conducting advanced X-ray and electron-based characterization (such as XRD, XAS, and XPS), and correlating structural changes with catalytic activity. You will work within an interdisciplinary team, collaborate with international research partners, and participate in synchrotron beamtimes. The role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with a background in physics, chemistry, or materials science who is eager to advance sustainable energy solutions. You will benefit from expert supervision, access to world-class research infrastructure, and a collaborative environment that encourages both scientific publication and professional growth within the Helmholtz research network.
