Job Summary

As an Operational Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the functionality and safety of Germany's highway infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve supporting the management of the Information Technology and Security Center (FIT), overseeing operational maintenance, and coordinating complex technical installations including control center technology. You will act as a key contact for operational issues, ensure compliance with technical standards and service instructions, and manage the lifecycle of infrastructure projects from planning through to construction and operation. This role requires a strong background in electrical and communication engineering, proficiency in relevant German technical norms and procurement laws, and the ability to manage complex technical troubleshooting. You will work in a collaborative environment dedicated to maintaining vital national infrastructure, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of German highway operations through technical expertise and leadership.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification, or equivalent suitability acquired through professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in electrical engineering, operational engineering, communication technology, or information technology
  • Long-term professional experience in the planning, construction, and operation of complex technical systems
  • Experience in managing maintenance, repair work, and coordination between different technical trades
  • Experience in applying technical norms and regulatory frameworks (e.g., DIN VDE, TLS, MARZ, RABT)
  • Experience in contract and procurement law (e.g., GWB, VGV, VOB)
