Ph.D. Candidate in Organic Chemistry | Ph.D. candidate (m/f/x) in organic chemistry (organocatalysis/supramolecular chemistry)
Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Job Summary
The Ph.D. candidate will join a research group at Ruhr-University Bochum focused on noncovalent interactions and donor-substituted cyclopropenium systems. The day-to-day responsibilities involve designing and executing multi-step organic syntheses, specifically targeting functionalized cyclopropanide systems, with a particular emphasis on diazo compounds. The candidate will be responsible for characterizing synthesized targets using advanced techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry (CV), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (sXRD). This position is ideal for a motivated chemist looking to advance their academic career in a specialized research environment. Key requirements include a Master's degree in chemistry, proficiency in multi-step synthesis, and experience with air-sensitive compounds under inert-gas conditions. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact research, with the possibility of utilizing DFT calculations and advanced crystallographic methods, making it a unique opportunity for those passionate about fundamental organic chemistry research.
