Job Summary

As an Expert in Open Source Security at the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the secure digitalization of German public administration. Your day-to-day work involves leading complex open-source and digitalization projects, conducting market analyses, and performing security assessments to derive concrete requirements for secure systems. You will design and evaluate IT security architectures, advise decision-makers, and represent the BSI in national and European working groups. This role is unique because it offers the opportunity to influence state-level IT strategy while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach through proof-of-concept development. You will work within a collaborative team dedicated to 'Security-by-Design,' ensuring that digital progress is both innovative and resilient. The position requires a strong background in IT security or computer science, excellent communication skills, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical requirements and strategic policy.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent (Diplom) in Computer Science, IT Security, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or Business Informatics with a focus on IT security.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT security and security architectures
  • Professional experience in open-source software and development processes
  • Experience in conceptualizing and evaluating complex IT systems
  • Experience in leading or managing IT security projects
  • Experience in developing IT security concepts, architectures, or guidelines

Additional
