Job Summary

As a Senior System Engineer for Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical design and integration of large-scale storage projects ranging from 10 to 500 MW. Your day-to-day work involves defining system architectures, including batteries, power conversion systems (PCS), and SCADA/EMS controls, while ensuring compliance with grid connection standards like VDE-AR-N 4110/4120. You will serve as the primary technical interface between engineering teams, suppliers, and grid operators, guiding projects from initial design through to commissioning and handover to asset management. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to make a direct impact on the European energy transition within a fast-growing, mission-driven company. You will play a key role in developing technical standards and optimizing system performance based on real-world operational data, all while working in a collaborative team environment that values innovation and individual responsibility.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a comparable engineering field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the planning, design, or integration of electrical energy systems
  • Experience with large-scale battery storage systems or comparable energy assets (>10 MW)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in grid connection compliance and technical system architecture
  • Experience with simulation tools for analyzing grid and system behavior
