Job Summary
The Leibniz Institute of Neurobiology is seeking a Head of Research Infrastructure to lead the strategic and operational management of its Quantitative Genomics Core Unit. In this role, you will oversee the establishment and expansion of transcriptomics-focused platforms while collaborating with units specializing in behavioral quantification, research data management, and technology development. You will advise leadership on scientific infrastructure, coordinate with existing imaging core units, and drive the acquisition of third-party funding for biomedical translation projects. The position offers significant creative freedom to shape forward-looking research platforms and represent the institute within national and international scientific networks. Candidates must possess a doctorate in life sciences, a track record of managing advanced genomics core facilities, and proven experience in securing research grants. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who excels at bridging the gap between high-level scientific research and operational infrastructure management, while fostering a multidisciplinary team environment.
Required Skills
Education
Doctorate (PhD) and a completed university degree (Master's, Diplom, or equivalent) in life sciences.
Experience
- Professional experience in managing research infrastructure and core facilities
- Proven experience in developing and leading advanced genomics initiatives
- Experience in translating scientific discoveries into clinical applications or commercial initiatives
- Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and mentoring researchers
- Documented experience in securing third-party funding and grants for technology development
- Proven track record of scientific output through publications or patents
