Job Summary

This role at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (LIN) in Magdeburg focuses on the intersection of neuroscience and data science. As a Research Software Engineer or Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software tools to analyze large-scale calcium imaging datasets. A major component of the position involves the further development of Z-BRAIN, an open neuroanatomical reference atlas for zebrafish. You will implement and optimize registration algorithms to map anatomical and functional image data onto the atlas, while creating reproducible data analysis pipelines in Python. This position is ideal for those passionate about open-source software and neurobiological research. You will work in an international, interdisciplinary environment with access to cutting-edge in vivo imaging technologies. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized Open Science project while collaborating with experts in computational neuroscience and biology.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or PhD (for Postdoctoral level) in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Neuroscience, Physics, or a related field.
