Job Summary

The City of Bayreuth is seeking a dedicated Engineer for technical environmental and climate protection, specializing in water management. This role involves enforcing environmental laws, assessing emissions (air, noise), and managing facilities handling water-hazardous substances. Key responsibilities include evaluating noise impacts, conducting measurements, and overseeing wastewater treatment and groundwater-related permits. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and conceptual skills, be proficient in IT tools like Office and GIS, and demonstrate a high commitment to environmental protection. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a meaningful role within a supportive team, contributing directly to the city's sustainability goals.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor's level minimum) in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology, Environmental Protection, Water Technology, Hydrology, or a comparable field. Alternatively, qualification for entry into the third qualification level of the Natural Science and Technology career path, with a focus on construction and environmental administrative services, specializing in water management.

Experience

  • Professional experience in environmental and climate protection, energy and environmental management, water management, or monitoring (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of requirements for facilities handling water-hazardous substances, including biogas plants (advantageous)
  • Knowledge in rainwater treatment (advantageous)
  • General knowledge of federal and state water laws (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of municipal technical environmental and climate protection action areas (advantageous)
  • Basic knowledge of administrative authority tasks, structures, and working methods (advantageous)

Additional
