Job Summary

The University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein is seeking a dedicated Researcher or Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Biomedical Informatics and Genetic Phenotype Redefinition Research Group. In this role, you will contribute to the Cluster of Excellence 'Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation' by developing a secure, auditable, and LLM-supported query layer for biomedical and clinical data environments. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing software components for metadata integration, developing structured interfaces, and ensuring robust query handling. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, AI, and biomedical data science, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support exploratory data navigation. Key requirements include a strong academic background in computer science, data science, or a related quantitative field, alongside proficiency in Python and modern software engineering practices like containerization and API development. Required Skills

Education

PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or a related quantitative field.

Experience

  • Experience with Linux-based development, testing, and debugging
  • Experience with APIs, containerized services, and structured data formats
  • Experience in biomedical or data-rich research contexts is considered an asset
