Job Summary

The National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Dresden is seeking an IT Administrator to join their team in supporting critical cancer research infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of high-performance IT systems, working closely with partner institutions in Heidelberg and Dresden. Your daily tasks include managing Windows and Linux environments, handling software distribution and updates, and providing first- and second-level support to staff. You will also play a key role in optimizing IT processes, managing hardware and software inventory, and documenting technical workflows. This position is unique as it offers the opportunity to contribute to life-saving cancer research within a world-class scientific environment. You will be expected to develop an understanding of oncological data while ensuring the stability and security of the IT landscape. The ideal candidate is a service-oriented professional with strong communication skills and a solid background in IT infrastructure management.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Computer Science or a related field, or a comparable vocational qualification (e.g., IT Specialist/Fachinformatiker).

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT infrastructure management and system administration
  • Practical experience working with current Microsoft and Linux desktop and server operating systems
  • Experience in providing user support and troubleshooting technical issues
