Job Summary

This role involves leading the Information Technology department for the Dresden Municipal Libraries, overseeing a large-scale networked library system. You will manage a small team and collaborate closely with other departments and municipal IT partners to plan and implement digitalization projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring data protection and information security, managing IT investment concepts, and overseeing the technical infrastructure for communication, events, and library-specific hardware. You will also analyze complex data exchange formats, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and develop specialized data evaluation methods. This position is unique as it combines high-level IT management with the cultural mission of a public library system, offering a stable public service contract (TVöD 11) with extensive benefits like mobile work, flexible hours, and a comprehensive onboarding program. The role also includes occasional support for central library services during opening hours.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor, Diploma, or equivalent) in Information Technology or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in leading an IT department or functional area

  • Professional experience in managing networked IT systems and multi-user applications
  • Experience in data protection and information security implementation
