Job Summary

This leadership role involves managing the IT and media infrastructure for the Stuttgart School Administration Office, overseeing the 'School-Wide Intranet Stuttgart' (SWIS) which serves approximately 74,000 students and 7,500 teachers across 148 schools. As the Head of the department, you will lead a team of eight staff members and take responsibility for the strategic development, expansion, and maintenance of both active and passive network infrastructures (LAN, WLAN, MAN). Key tasks include setting binding technical standards, steering complex infrastructure projects from conception to quality assurance, and representing the office in cross-departmental committees. This position is particularly attractive as it offers a permanent contract within the public sector (TVöD E13), flexible working models including home office options, and the opportunity to significantly shape the digital educational landscape of a major city. You will also serve as the Deputy Head of the IT Competence Center Schools.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; alternatively, a completed IT vocational training with extensive relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Several years of experience in planning, controlling, and operating complex passive and active network infrastructures
  • Proven leadership experience in a professional IT environment
  • Experience in leading interdisciplinary projects and coordinating internal and external partners
  • Professional experience within public administration or municipal infrastructure projects is preferred
