Job Summary

As an Intraday Optimization Specialist at BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH, you will play a critical role in Berlin's energy transition. Working in a continuous 24/7 shift rotation, you will be responsible for creating and adjusting intraday power plant schedules for both electricity and heat. Your day-to-day involves using specialized optimization software to adapt plant operations based on real-time factors such as fluctuating electricity prices, actual heat loads, and grid hydraulics. You will ensure balancing group compliance and manage gas contract corridors while optimizing the procurement of electrical energy during plant outages. This position is ideal for technical professionals with an interest in energy trading and combined heat and power (CHP) systems. It offers a unique opportunity to manage the largest district heating network in Western Europe, contributing directly to the goal of climate neutrality by 2045 within a stable, permanent employment framework.

Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfte:r Techniker:in) or Master Craftsman (Meister:in) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or power plant technology
  • Experience in the economic aspects of energy trading and market dynamics
  • Demonstrated experience working with technical software for plant optimization
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment with clear communication requirements
  • Prior experience or willingness to work in a 24/7 continuous shift rotation
