Job Summary

As an Intraday Optimizer at BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH, you will play a critical role in Berlin's energy transition. Working in a continuous 24/7 shift rotation, you will be responsible for creating and adjusting intraday power plant schedules for both electricity and heat using specialized optimization software. Your daily activities involve balancing real-world conditions—such as fluctuating electricity prices, actual heat loads, and plant availability—with operational requirements. You will monitor balancing groups, ensure compliance with gas supply contracts, and manage the procurement of electrical energy during plant outages. This position is ideal for technical professionals with a strong understanding of combined heat and power (CHP) systems and energy trading economics. Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfte:r Techniker:in) or Master Craftsman (Meister:in) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in power plant technology, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering
  • Demonstrated economic understanding of energy trading markets
  • Experience working with optimization software and technical monitoring systems
  • Experience in shift-based operations (24/7) is required
  • Professional experience in combined heat and power (CHP) processes
