Job Summary

This leadership role involves overseeing the 'Administration, Finance, IT, and Marketing' service area for the Cultural Operations of the City of Aachen, specifically within the City Library. You will be responsible for managing procurement processes in compliance with public award regulations, ensuring building safety and maintenance in cooperation with facility management, and handling cash management security. A significant portion of the role involves personnel management, budget planning, and the coordination of IT operations. You will also lead project groups and contribute to public relations and marketing strategies to promote library services. This position offers a unique opportunity to work for one of the region's largest employers, providing a high degree of creative freedom and responsibility. While the specific leadership assignment is initially to cover a maternity and parental leave absence, the contract is permanent, ensuring long-term employment within the municipal administration.

Required Skills

Education

Career qualification for the Second Entry Level of Career Group 2 in General Administrative Service, successful completion of the Administrative Course II (Verwaltungslehrgang II), or a comparable degree (e.g., Diploma in Finance, Diploma in Law/Judicial Administration, or a Bachelor/Diploma in Administrative Management).

Experience

  • Professional experience in public administration or a comparable management environment
  • Experience in procurement and compliance with regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in personnel matters and labor law applications
  • Experience in leading and moderating working groups or project teams
  • Leadership experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in financial administration or judicial service is beneficial

  • Must be willing to complete a mandatory leadership training course (D 300). The selection process includes an extended assessment of leadership, social, and methodological competencies. Applicants must be eligible for a permanent employment contract in the German public sector.
