Job Summary

This role is based in the Quantum Optics and Length Unit department at PTB, Germany's national metrology institute. As an Engineer, you will be responsible for the independent calibration of wavelength standards using beat frequency measurements and femtosecond lasers. Your daily activities will involve planning calibration orders, communicating with clients, and documenting processes within electronic records. A significant portion of the role focuses on the technical advancement and automation of measurement stations, as well as the development, testing, and documentation of complex analog and digital electronic circuits for measurement and control tasks. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy precision measurement and want to contribute to the development of world-leading measurement standards. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or Diploma from a University of Applied Sciences) in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physical Technology, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in precision measurement and metrological understanding
  • Experience in the development of electronic circuits is highly preferred
  • Practical experience with laser-based setups is ideal
  • Experience in programming and automation, specifically using Python
  • Experience in managing calibration orders and client communication
  • Experience in quality management and maintaining technical documentation
