Job Summary
The Biological Technical Assistant will join the Clinical Cooperation Unit (CCU) 'Applied Tumor Immunity' at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). This role is central to translational research, where you will coordinate the collection and processing of human samples such as blood, tissue, and stool, ensuring strict adherence to ethical and biosafety guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include executing complex laboratory techniques such as multicolor flow cytometry (FACS), molecular biology (qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation), and cell culture (2D/3D models). You will also be responsible for conducting animal experiments, managing laboratory databases, and supervising junior staff. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at one of Europe's leading cancer research institutions, contributing directly to the development of novel immunotherapies. The role is highly collaborative, requiring a mix of technical precision in the lab and organized administrative management to support the research team's mission of 'Research for a life without cancer'.
Required Skills
Education
Completed training as a Biology Laboratory Assistant (BTA) or a similar qualification in life sciences.
Experience
- Professional experience in biology laboratory techniques mentioned in the description
- Practical experience in multicolor flow cytometry
- Experience in conducting animal experiments according to legal and ethical standards
- Experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques

Languages
Additional
- Must provide proof of immunity against measles as per the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). Requires ability to handle human samples and work in BSL1/S2 laboratory environments. Location: Heidelberg, Germany.
