Job Summary

This role at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig focuses on supporting the Department of Cell Toxicology through instrumental analysis. As a Chemical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the technical management of a GC-HRMS system, including performing routine maintenance and repairs. Your daily tasks will involve sample preparation using liquid-liquid extraction, creating stock solutions and calibration standards, and supporting ongoing research projects through data evaluation and quality control. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in Gas Chromatography (GC) who enjoys working in an international, interdisciplinary scientific environment. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA) or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Chemical-Technical Assistant or in a comparable laboratory role
  • Proven experience in the independent maintenance and repair of Gas Chromatography systems
  • Experience in the preparation of stock solutions and calibration standards
  • Experience with analytical software such as Xcalibur or Mass Hunter is preferred
  • Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks and sample management systems is an advantage
