This role involves supporting the Translational Research Center at the Clinic for General, Visceral, and Transplantation Surgery in Heidelberg. You will manage daily laboratory operations, including the preparation of buffers, media, and reagents, while ensuring compliance with S1 and S2 safety guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include performing histology, biochemistry, cell culture, and microscopy, as well as supporting surgical research through both in-vitro and in-vivo experiments. A significant part of the role involves the preparation and care of animal studies in accordance with animal welfare regulations. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical Technical Laboratory Assistant (MTLA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), or a comparable professional qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical Technical Laboratory Assistant (MTLA), or Medical Technical Assistant (MTA)
  • Practical experience in histology, biochemistry, cell culture, and microscopy
  • Experience in the preparation and monitoring of animal experiments
  • Experience working within interdisciplinary and international teams
  • Experience in laboratory documentation and data evaluation

Additional

  • Willingness to participate in animal experimental studies is required. Must provide valid proof of measles immunity as per the Infection Protection Act. The position is full-time (38.5 hours/week) and limited to a 2-year fixed-term contract.
