Job Summary

This role involves contributing significantly to public security by managing complex IT programs, projects, and processes within the Federal Office of Administration (BVA), a central service provider for the German federal government. The successful candidate will support leadership in central organizational matters, IT budget planning, controlling, and resource management, while also coordinating and optimizing budget and controlling processes. This position requires a professional who enjoys highly complex IT projects, possesses an agile mindset, and can effectively coordinate across various departments and with external service providers, often in an EU context. Key responsibilities include preparing steering committee meetings, managing reporting obligations, and harmonizing work processes to support critical IT systems for clients like the Federal Police and Federal Criminal Police Office. The role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact and work with diverse stakeholders.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (min. Bachelor) in Computer Science or a related field; OR completed IHK vocational training as an IT specialist (focus on Data and Process Analysis, Application Development, or System Integration); OR a university degree in another field combined with relevant professional experience; OR extensive professional experience in IT program/project management.

Experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience in cross-organizational planning and control of IT programs, IT projects, or IT-related processes (if holding a non-IT degree)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in cross-organizational planning and control of IT programs, IT projects, or IT-related processes (if no degree specified)
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with heterogeneous interest groups
  • 2+ years of professional experience in innovative development, analysis, and digitalization of processes
  • Professional experience with budget figures (advantageous)
  • Professional experience in agile projects (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) with Jira/Confluence (advantageous)
  • 1+ year of professional experience in German federal budget law, budget legislation, and budget preparation procedures (advantageous)
  • Professional experience in IT project management with EU relevance (advantageous)
  • Professional experience in managing external service providers (advantageous)
