Job Summary

Join the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) as an IT Security Engineer, contributing to a secure digital future for Germany. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing testing concepts and tools for the department's test infrastructure, while also enhancing their open-source toolchain. Your daily tasks will involve conducting vulnerability and non-compliance analyses on consumer products and services through penetration testing and vulnerability assessments. You will also develop threat analyses to identify security risks and evaluate IT security incidents in the digital consumer market, formulating appropriate warnings and recommendations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team, shaping IT security for consumers and contributing to critical national cybersecurity initiatives.

Required Skills

Education

University Diploma/Master's degree in (Technical) Computer Science, IT Security/Cyber Security, Physics, Mathematics, Communications or Electrical Engineering, IT Management, Administrative or Business Informatics, or a comparable relevant field with an IT/technical focus.

Experience

  • Professional experience in cybersecurity areas such as IT systems, IT infrastructures, operating systems, applications, and current attack methods.
  • Demonstrated several years of professional experience in similar roles is advantageous.

Additional

  • Willingness to participate in further training and business trips (approx. 5-15 working days per year domestically). Consent to undergo a simple security clearance check (Sicherheitsüberprüfung nach § 8 SÜG) is required. For foreign educational qualifications, proof of equivalence with a German degree from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) is necessary.
