Job Summary
This role involves the comprehensive management and strategic development of central file server systems and High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters at a leading international research institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conception, procurement, implementation, and ongoing administration of critical IT infrastructure, including Fibre Channel RAID systems, network switches, and batch-queueing systems like Slurm. Key responsibilities also include optimizing storage and cluster architectures, managing operating systems, overseeing backup/restore processes, and providing expert support and training to scientific users. Required Skills
Education
University degree (e.g., Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering) or comparable qualification
Experience
- Professional experience in the administration and development of complex IT infrastructures, preferably in a scientific environment
- Practical experience with Storage Systems (IBM Storage Scale, FC Raid, Brocade FC OS, TSM)
- Practical experience with Network Hardware and Management (Cumulus, Fibre Channel, Network Switches)
- Practical experience with HPC Environments (Cluster Nodes, Batch-Queueing Systems like Slurm, NVIDIA GPUs)
- Practical experience with Filesystem Management, Filesets, ACLs, Quotas
- Practical experience with License Management (e.g., flexlm)
- Practical experience with Scientific Applications (e.g., RStudio, CryoSPARC)
