Job Summary

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Seating Department in Berlin, you will manage the entire product lifecycle of vehicle seats, treating them as dynamic, robotic structural components. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve concept generation, 3D CAD modeling using CATIA, and vehicle packaging, while balancing safety, comfort, and cost. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing and procurement teams to ensure seamless system integration and production feasibility. This role is unique because it requires a 'polymath' approach, touching on diverse disciplines from materials science and kinematics to mechatronics and soft goods design. You will be expected to use first-principles thinking to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. The position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact automotive components that integrate mechanical structures with advanced electronics and sensors, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on prototyping and cross-functional technical leadership.
