Job Summary

This role involves joining Tesla's Vehicle Engineering team in Berlin to design and launch next-generation automotive interior systems, including instrument panels, door trims, consoles, and overhead components. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will manage the entire product lifecycle from initial CAD development and prototyping to manufacturing launch and field reliability analysis. You will act as a critical liaison between engineering teams in the US, China, and Berlin, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship while optimizing for cost, mass, and manufacturability. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a flat, fast-paced organizational structure where interdisciplinary collaboration and first-principles thinking are essential. You will be responsible for creating robust designs using DFMEA and GD&T principles, collaborating with external suppliers, and utilizing CATIA for 3D modeling to solve complex engineering challenges in the transition to sustainable energy.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in automotive interior component and subsystem engineering
  • Proven experience in technical design from concept through release and production launch
  • Extensive experience with mass manufacturing technologies such as injection molding and thermoforming
  • Professional experience in 3D modeling within an automotive product development environment
  • Experience in managing change control and part release processes
